Trying to follow Jesus? I will never forget the day when I realised that there was a huge gap between my own experience of prayer, and Jesus’s teaching on prayer in the Gospels. Why and how could this change? As a working father and with a small business, I felt I was failing spiritually & that I didn't know how to pray. I certainly didn't know how to hear from God personally. I felt that if I made no change, I was going to finish my life with a sense of disappointment.
What followed this was a shared journey of discovery, learning how to position ourselves to be able to hear from the Lord, discovering what the biblical normal is for a relationship with our Heavenly Father as a born-again Christian.
The HFV Course (‘Hearing the Father's Voice’) was born out of this journey, as others joined the journey and contributed experience. There are 6 teaching & practical sessions, designed to first grasp the character of God, and then seek and respond to His voice for yourself.
I've noticed that many people have been encouraged the by stories of how I and others learned to hear the Holy Spirit, trying for themselves how we can hear as children of God. So while the course consists of 6 recorded teachings based on scripture, there are also exercises designed to offer space to hear from the Spirit oneself. These are short workshops embedded in the teaching, as well as separate more extended practical exercises.
Most who have followed the course have done so as small groups within existing church organisations, but a number have now followed the material on their own, or within other community groups. All the course materials are available here. For guidance, please get in touch through the contact link.
