David Ritchie has spent the core of his working life involved in a variety of forms of training , particularly in outdoor pursuits. This included a long period as a senior manager at the Royal Yachting Association, running an international training scheme and safety inspection regime across 30 countries and 1500 organisations.

David has a degree in Engineering Science & a post graduate certificate in Community and Youth Work. He came to follow Jesus as a young man during his time in Durham. He now lives in Oxford with his wife Ali, and they share four adult children.

"Very early on, trying to hear the voice of the Lord, I realised that our God is a god who prioritises the disadvantaged and marginalised members of society. I've hoped to reflect this in my work & life choices over the years.

The HFV course is the result of some years spent realising many of us struggle to feel comfortable in the presence of the Lord and tend to feel something is demanded of us. The reality that Jesus teaches is that He enjoys our company just as we are. It was suggested that a course of this nature might be helpful so I wrote the first version in 2018. It has evolved since then as I've run various local courses and is now available so that anyone can use it.

The course is by its nature quite autobiographical. Coupled with exercises designed to offer space to hear from the Spirit oneself, I've noticed that many people have found stories of how I and others learned to hear the Holy Spirit broaden the imagination and hope, of what we can hear as children of God."

'Hearing the Father's Voice' is a series of practical training resources to help & inspire Christians to pray effectively: how do we position ourselves to easily hear His voice?
